Eugene O'Mahoney Wins Club Championship

Tennis - Club Championships:

We had a great week to run the RyanMotorPower Club Championships, after a long hard Open season for many of our players. Congratulations to Eugene O'Mahoney, former Ballybacon hurling star, who continued his great season by winning the Div. 1 singles by beating Gerry Burke. Eugene teamed up with new club member John Coleman to win the Grade 1,2,3 doubles against the experienced pairing of Declan Tarrant and Michael Murray. In the mixed Annmaire and Michael Maroney won against Eugene O'Mahoney and Mary Wall. Annmaire Moroney and Mary Wall teamed up to win the ladies doubles. James Reilly won the Div. 4 singles against Aidan Gaughran. Aidan enjoyed success in the Div. 4 doubles with Jonathan Cooney. In the grade 5 events, Alison Walsh won the ladies singles and due to her success on the circuit, is now promoted to grade 4. Richard Thompson won the singles against David Johnson and teamed up with Paul Garrett to win the doubles. Eugene Cooney and Annmaire Quigley won the mixed grade 5. Deirdre Garrett and Gillian Barry won the doubles, beating Gail Johnson and Sandra Charles in the final. It was very pleasing to see a wide variety of players featuring and thanks to all who participated.
