Pitch and Putt

The President's Prize took place on a glorious sunny day. The weather wasn't the only thing that was hot as the scores that were brought in were blistering. In his speech our president Mr. Noel Byrne thank all who played and everyone who helped out, especially those who prepared the food and looked after the bar, which meant the festivities continued late into the evening.

Our overall Nett Winner was Kyle Kennedy with a brilliant score of 19 under (79 Nett). Even with such a score Kyle just managed to pip Sean Cronin, our runner up, by the slimmest of margins. David Cahill claimed the gent's gross prize with 17 under, a score that now promotes him to the senior ranks. A return to form saw Noel Joyce claim the gents Senior Nett prize with George Goodman the Intermediate Nett prize winner. Ger Cronin won the junior Nett prize with a Nett score of 81. He just scraped over the line from Michael Kilkelly who produced the shot of the day with a chip in on the 18th from a near impossible angle for a closing birdie.

In the Ladies section Ann Delahunty claimed top honours with a fantastic score to achieve her first win of the season. Meanwhile her playing partner Kathleen Shanley returned a one under par score to win the gross prize. The 0-11 Nett prize was won by Pauline Lucey.  The 12+ Nett prize was won by Veronica Anglim maintaining her winning streak after picking up a prize with David Cahill in the National Mixed foursome finals the previous day.

We are running an outing to Fermoy on Saturday 6th October. Anyone interested please put your name on the sheet in the kiosk.

Tennis

Hillview had plenty of representatives at all grades in the Castleview Open. Richard Thompson had a good week, winning the grade 5 singles and teaming up with Evelyn Buckley to win the mixed doubles. Aine Lonergan teamed up with Kilfeckle's Theresa Keating to win the grade 2 ladies doubles. Eugene O'Mahoney was runner up in the mens grade 2 singles, Alison Walsh was runner up in the ladies 5 singles and Ann and Perry Commins were runners up in the mixed grade 6. The action switches to Hillview this week, with the RyanMotorPower club championships.
