Marquin Cup Revived

After a few dormant years, the Social Committee under Mattie Boyle and Deirdre Garrett revived the multi sport Marquin Cup, this suits an all rounder who can play tennis, pitch and putt, skittles and table tennis. A few pitch and putt players showed some promise at tennis, many people enjoyed the doubles table tennis and the skittles events. Hillview appreciate the sponsorship of Tony Hennessy, Building Contractor for his sponsorship of this event. After 2 sessions the Cup and Plate teams were known and the finals were keenly contested on Friday 31st August. The winning Cup team were James Cleary, Mira Hinner, John Hannon and Mary Wall, the runners up were, Ger Cronin, Seanie O'Connor, Paddy Kenrick and Alison Walsh. The Plate winners were David Cahill, Dave Barry, Annmaria Quigley and Aine Madden and runners up were Richard Madden, Kyle Kennedy, Siobhan Slater and Angela Hennessy. Also thanks to Frank Darrer and Ann Kendrick for running the Barbecue. Well done to all, it was great fun and we may organise some more novelty events.

Pitch and Putt

The weather has been excellent all summer and so it proved once again on Tuesday 21st August for the weekly scramble. The team of Adrian Anglim, Lorraine Creed and Dave Forrest had the winning Nett score. Runners up on the night were Ger Cronin, Mary Lynch and John Cooney. Gross prize went to John Creed, Mary Moloney and Con Lucey. The 3rd Nett went to the team of Danny Gibbons, Nora Whelan and Seanie O ‘Connor.

Scramble results Tuesday 28th August

Nett Winners were Con Lucey, Lorraine Creed and Kathleen Foran. Runners Up Dave Forrest, Breda Howell and Mary Lynch. Gross prize went to the team of Paddy O ‘Hanrahan, Kathleen Shanley and Kathleen Campbell.

Well done to the Hillview players who have Qualified for County Matchplay last weekend in Cashel. Juniors: Brendan Cronin, Ger Cronin, Sean O Connor & Tom Morris.  Intermediate: David Cahill, Seniors: Paul Sweeney,  James Cleary. Well done to David Cahill who had a great run but just came up short in the final.

Tennis

We are running Open American tournaments every Weds during September; first one is on the 5th. starting at 7:30. Eugene Cooney is the tournament leader, come along and partake, open to members and visitors. The County under 12 and 14 team competitions are being run in Hillview on Sat 8th and Sun 9th, Sept.

Club Lotto

On the 1st September the Hillview Lotto Jackpot was worth €5,800. The numbers drawn were 10-14-20-23 and there was 1 match 3 winner. The Next Lotto Draw will take place on Saturday 9th Sept at 9.00p.m. The Jackpot will now be worth €5,900. Tickets are €1 each and can be bought from ticket sellers, or at the Hillview Bingo every Monday & Friday Night or at the Club Bar every night. Buy-ins for 2018 are now due, they are available at €45.00 for 1 year. If you're not in you can't win.
