Jimmy Cooney R.I.P.

On behalf of Hillview Sports Club, we are sad to advise the passing of Jimmy Cooney, RIP. Jimmy was a lifelong member of Hillview and served with distinction in various roles. He was President in the period 1971 to 73; he oversaw the demolition of the old wooden clubhouse and the replacement with the structure that we have now. He was also instrumental in setting up the fund raising bingo in 1963, which is still going strong. Jimmy was active in many roles, President, Tennis Captain, Table Tennis Captain, Club Secretary and in 2014 was made an Honorary Life Vice President. He was a great administrator in his many roles in life and his calm demeanour sorted out many issues. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

We have 13 teams competing in the Flamingo Bingo sponsored Winter League on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Good luck to our 3 teams competing in the Munster Winter League. Well done to Aine Lonergan who partnered with Emma Bowler were runners up in the premier grade Lena Rice Memorial Tournament in New Inn.
