One of the major internal pitch and putt competitions, the Presidents (Seamus Doherty) Prizes was blessed with a reasonable day and we had one of the biggest turnouts for this competition in years. A big thank you to all who played and those who supported the event. As the day went on and the scores came in, it became apparent that a big surprise was in the offing with the overall prize going to Breda Howell, the first time a lady had won the overall prize according to the club historians. Congratulations Breda on your excellent score and great achievement.

Results of other recent competitions.

Ely Centra Gross Competition

We again had an excellent turnout for this event sponsored for us by Ely Centra Stores in the Old Bridge. The ladies side of the competition provided a facile triumph once again for Pauline Lucey who romped home many shots ahead of her nearest rival Breda Howell with the nett prize going to Ann Wall. The Gents competition was a different story however with John Fitzgerald getting home by the narrowest of margins from Jason Cunningham who just pipped James Cleary on a countback.

McInerney & Millea Cups:

In the Millea cup for Ladies the winner was Pauline Lucey who got home by just a 2 shot margin with the gross prize going to Kathleen Shanley.

In the McInerney Cup the winner was Paddy O'Hanrahan who scraped home by just 1 shot from form player Adrian Anglim, the gross winner was James Cleary.

Tennis

The All Ireland Vets Tournament is normally held in Dublin, this year it was hosted by St Anne's, Waterford and it attracted a strong entry from Hillview and other Tipperary clubs. In the various age categories, all the lads played well and most won through the first match, but came up against seasoned opponents from Ulster and Lenster. It's great to participate at this level, so congratulations to Des Dillon, Martin Ormonde, Michael Prendergast, Eugene O'Mahoney and William Guiry, William won a final in men's doubles under 55.
