August Tennis Tournaments in Tipperary
August is a very busy period for Open Tennis Tournaments in the South Tipperary area. Last week, it was the turn of Tipperary town. The Larkspur Doubles Open is starting this week and this will be followed by the 2 week Castleview Open. Congratulations to Emma Smith who scored a treble in Tramore, winning the grade 4 ladies singles, doubles and mixed. Also Laura Durkan showed good form by winning the grade 3 ladies singles. Evan Fitzgerald qualified for the Fitzwilliam Irish Junior Open main draw for the 5th year in a row.Laura Durkan had another great week in Tipperary, winning the grade 3 and runner up in the grade 2, her mother Ann was runner up in grade 4 singles, while Grace was runner up in both the ladies grade 1 and 2 events. David Hannon also had a great win in Tipperary winning the grade 2 men's singles.We had a very good week at the recent Junior Open Week with a good entry and many players from Limerick, Cork, Waterford, Kilkenny, Naas and locally from Cashel, Carrick on Suir, Kilfeckle, Lattin and Ballypatrick demonstrated their skills. Anna Downey from Larkspur won the under 18 girls singles, but had to give best to Rebecca Ahearne Smith, St Albans, UK who was visiting relations in Clonmel. The Farrell brothers Eoin and David rom St Anne's, won the under 14, 16 and 18 titles. We had a large entry from the extended Deely, Pizay and Kelly Family and Hillview will take credit for their success, the winners of the under 12 doubles were Tom Kelly and his cousin William Pizay, William won the under 12 boys and was runner up in the under 14. His sister Lucy Pizay won the under 12 mixed with Niall Deely was runner up to Ruby Walsh from Cork in the 12 singles. Anna Pizay won the under 14 mixed with Owen Quigley who defeated Sean Moroney and Camille Ryan from Ballypatrick. Tom Downey from Larkspur teamed up with Mark Thomas O'Brien from Lattin to win the under 14 doubles against Hillview's Mark Guiry and Conor Hogan. In a very Thanks to all at Hillview for the huge administration and catering exercise.

Congratulations to Seanie O'Connor and Adrian Anglim for winning bronze medals at the Munster Inter Counties in Castleisland last Saturday week. Seanie and Adrian were part of the Tipperary Junior Gents team. On the 19th August 2017 the Hillview Lotto Jackpot was worth €2,000. The numbers drawn were 3-6-11-12. There was no Winner of the Jackpot. There were an amazing 12 tickets with 3 numbers.
