Club Notes: 25th June 2017

Pitch and Putt: Ladies Social Pitch and Putt was a great success

Ladies Night: Blessed with good weather this annual event played last Friday, was once again a great success. With a number of the ladies preferring to sit things out in the comfort of the lounge a total of 32 ladies comprising 10 teams  set out for an 18 hole scramble, which all seemed to enjoy judging by the squeals of laughter coming from the course. At the end the result of the competition was as follows:

1st Eileen Murray, Maureen Widger and Pauline Lucey.

2nd Olivia Walsh, Maura Byer and Anne Fitzgerald.

3rd Ann Raher, AnnMarie Quigley, Evelyn Torrens and Nora Whelan

4th Ann Wall, Mary Walsh & Mary Crotty

5th = Pat Power, Marie Savage, Mary Daly and Mary Maloney

After the P&P the ladies returned to the club house for a beautiful meal supplied as always by Eileen Condon and her team. The evening concluded with a sing song in the bar which went on into the early ours. Again thanks to all who supported this night.

Tuesday Night Scrambles: The result of the most recent scramble was as follows

Winners= Mary Maloney Con Lucey, and John Cawley

Runners-up = Nora Daly, Bridget Walsh and Adrian Anglim

As well as the usual Tuesday Night Scramble we will be running an “Open" scramble on Thurs. June 29th. So bring a friend.

Nuala Smith had a good week at the Kilkenny Open, in Div. 2 Ladies Doubles, she teamed up with Trish Keating and got to the final, beaten by local rivals Geraldine Everett from Castleview and Laura Heffernan from New Inn.. In the Div. 3 doubles, she partnered her daughter Emma, but was again runner up. However, congratulations to Emma who followed up her success in Carlow with victory in the grade 4 ladies singles. During the summer Evan Fitzgerald is on the Dublin circuit, he has produced some great performances at the recent Landsdown and Templeogue Tournaments; the standard is very high at these events with international and ITF participants. His next tournament is in Naas.

Juniors, now with school over, make progress by playing your ladder matches and see entry forms for Castleview Open Week.
