Tennis - Condon Cup

The annual Condon Cup was played last Friday night in glorious sunny conditions. The Cup, played in honour of the late Mr Paddy Condon since 1977, has a place in Hillview Tennis folklore. Paul Condon, Paddy's son and former tennis captain, presented the prizes to the victorious team on the night. Great tennis was played throughout the glorious sunny night by all the teams. Edging forward all the time was Ann Marie Cosgrave's team, picking up every extra points going, in this five match round robin team competition. Along with John Durkin, Cora Morrissey and Siobhan Slater this team took the eventual honours. The tussle for second place required a count-back with Alison Walsh's team being pipped by Nail Lynch's and his squad of Carmel Boyle, Noel Byrne and Ella Power. Noel Byrne our Tennis Captain paid tribute to all who played on the night in this very enjoyable and historic competition, In particular he thanked Paul Condon for the presentation.
