Club Notes: 21st Aug 2016

It was a very busy week in Hillview, on Sunday the club was transformed into a food and drinks emporium to cater for the thousands of cyclists on the 160 kilometres Sean Kelly Charity Cycle.

On Friday, there was a bouncing castle children's party and participants from the National Learning Network were playing tennis in the morning. From Tuesday to Thursday we hosted a multi sports junior camp, attended by circa 70 children. Thanks to all of our many volunteers for facilitating all these activities.

Tennis

Evan Fitzgerald was in action at the All Irelands in Fitzwilliam, he won his first round and was unlucky to be drawn against Caleb Rolston, who went on to win the final. Evan gave him his hardest game, going down 6-4, 6-4. Hillview offers congratulations to Castleview star Zack Murphy, who won both the under 12 boys and mixed doubles and was beaten in singles by Arthur O'Sullivan. Both Zach and Arthur are former winners at under 10 and 12 in the Hillview Junior Open.

It's a busy period, for tennis in South Tipperary, currently Larkspur Open is on, other upcoming tournaments include the Tipperary Vets, Castleview Open and Ballypatrick Open. The next competition in Hillview is the historical Condon Cup mixed team competition, suitable for all grades, which is scheduled for Friday 2nd September.

The next club competition will go ahead on Sunday Sept.11th for the Burke & Millea cups.
