Pitch and Putt

Ely Centra Gross Competition;

We had an excellent turnout for this the major "Gross" competition of the year.

The Gents competition with a returning James Cleary edging home on a countback from Michael Kennedy both of whom returned 14 par on a difficult course. The Gents Nett prize went to Derek McGee.

The Ladies competition was more straight forward with Anne Fitzgerald taking the Gross prize from Pauline Lucey with the Nett prize going to Lady Captain Nora Whelan.

We are once again grateful to Ely Centra and Robert in particular for their generous support for this event.

Scrambles: Our "Open" scrambles are proving a big hit this Summer, the most recent one was played in balmy conditions on Tuesday July 19 with the course in spectacular condition. 11 teams set off on the 27 hole journey resulting in a win by just 1/3 rd. of a shot by the trio of Nora Whelan, John Cawley and John Fitzgerald. The team to just lose out in second place were Jacinta O'Mahoney, Mary Maloney and Joe Hickey. The gross prize went to Cait Mulcahy, Con Lucey and Paddy O'Hanrahan. The 3rd Nett prize went to Evelyn Torrens, Joan Donlon and Dave Cahill. Please note the next "Open" Scramble will take place on Aug 2nd. The Ely Centra Competition was played on Sunday July 24th, full report later.
