Ladies Night was held on Friday night June 26. Despite a bad start to the day conditions were dry when the 40 ladies took to the course for an 18 hole Scramble. After the Scramble the ladies enjoyed a beautiful meal prepared and served by Eileen Condon and her team. The meal was followed by the presentation of prizes and a sing -song which lasted until the early hours on Saturday morning. In a short speech Gents Captain Paddy O'Hanrahan thanked the ladies for the great turnout, the Committee and others who helped run and organise the event and most especially our loyal and generous sponsors Tina Florists and Joe Hickey.Munster Ladies Strokeplay Finals:
Hillview was the host club for this year. What the event may have lacked in numbers it was more than compensated for by the high standard of play across all grades. This meant that the results were in doubt right up to the end. Final results were as follows:Senior Grade - Winner Eleanor Walsh Fermoy, 2nd- Breda Lonergan Tipp. Hills, 3rd - Paula Nolan BallinloughIntermediate Grade - Winner Mary Murray, Rocklodge (after 9 hole playoff, 2nd - Kathleen Shanley Hillview, 3rd - Mary Quinn LakesideJunior Grade - Winner Margaret O' Donovan, Bruff, 2nd - Mairead Manning, St Stephens, 3rd - Bridget Walsh, CunnigarCongrats to all the Hillview ladies who played with a special congrats to Kathleen Shanley who lost out narrowly in the Intermediate crown. The event was run with calm efficiency by Helen and Myles McMorrow of the PPUI. In his speech after the presentation Myles made a strong appeal to all ladies in all clubs to participate in events like todays, if not, these events will become history. This appeal was echoed by Hillview President in his address to the gathering.Tuesday Night Scramble:
The most recent was held on June 21. A small entry did not stop some blistering scoring with the team of Breda Howell, Kathleen Shanley and Stephen O'Reilly, 20 under par for the 27 holes played, in second place after shooting 19 under were the team of Nora Whelan, Con Lucey and Mick Kennedy. In third place were the trio of Anne Fitzgerald, Paddy O' Hanrahan and Adrian Anglim on a humble 15 under.Open Scramble:
An Open scramble for club members and non- members alike will be run on Tuesday July 5 with a 7.00pm start at latest. Next big Club Event Is the Captains Prizes on July 10.
In Limerick Open, 2 of our members fought against each other in a great 3 setter, with Declan Tarrant finally winning a grade 2 tournament with the help of Marcella Kelly, Tipp County, they got the better of the youths Grace Durkan and Michael Kirby. Declan with partner Michael Moroney, also had a good run in the men's doubles. Hillview have 2 teams in the South Tipperary League.Upcoming Events, please support Hillview Clean Up Day on Saturday 2nd July, Painting Party on Sunday 3rd July and Wimbledon Party on the 10th July.
On Saturday 25th June 2016 the Hillview Lotto Jackpot was worth €1,200. The numbers drawn were 1, 11, 13, 16. There was no Winner of the Jackpot, however we had 10 match 3s. The Next Lotto Draw will take place on Saturday 2nd July 2016 at 9.00p.m. The Jackpot will now be worth €1,300. Tickets are €1 each and can be bought from ticket sellers, or at the Hillview Bingo every Monday & Friday Night or at the Club Bar every night. Buy-ins for 2016 are now due, they are available at €45.00 for 1 year. If you're not in you can't win.
