Pitch and Putt

Ladies Night: Ladies Night was held on Friday night June 26. Despite a bad start to the day conditions were dry when the 40 ladies took to the course for an 18 hole Scramble. With only 4 shots separating the 13 teams it took the scrutineers a little time to sort out the winning teams which were as follows

Pauline Lucey, Ann O'Sullivan and Breda Murphy

Corina McGee, Evelyn Torrens, and Breda Breen

Breda O'Donnell, Hilary Murphy and Noreen Carey

Lorraine Creed, Maureen Ryan, Geraldine Gunne and Dolores Butler

Mary O'Neill, Monica Walsh and Siobhan Slater

After the Scramble the ladies enjoyed a beautiful meal prepared and served by Eileen Condon and her team. The meal was followed by the presentation of prizes and a sing -song which lasted until the early hours on Saturday morning. In a short speech Gents Captain Paddy O'Hanrahan thanked the ladies for the great turnout, the Committee and others who helped run and organise the event and most especially our loyal and generous sponsors Tina Florists and Joe Hickey.

Munster Ladies Strokeplay Finals:

Hillview was the host club for this year. What the event may have lacked in numbers it was more than compensated for by the high standard of play across all grades. This meant that the results were in doubt right up to the end. Final results were as follows:

Senior Grade -  Winner Eleanor Walsh Fermoy, 2nd- Breda Lonergan Tipp. Hills, 3rd - Paula Nolan  Ballinlough

Intermediate Grade - Winner  Mary Murray, Rocklodge (after 9 hole playoff,  2nd - Kathleen Shanley Hillview, 3rd - Mary Quinn Lakeside

Junior Grade - Winner Margaret O' Donovan, Bruff,  2nd - Mairead Manning, St Stephens, 3rd - Bridget Walsh, Cunnigar

Congrats to all the Hillview ladies who played with a special congrats to Kathleen Shanley who lost out narrowly in the Intermediate crown. The event was run with calm efficiency by Helen and Myles McMorrow of the PPUI. In his speech after the presentation Myles made a strong appeal to all ladies in all clubs to participate in events like todays, if not, these events will become history. This appeal was echoed by Hillview President in his address to the gathering.

A small entry did not stop some blistering scoring with the team of Breda Howell, Kathleen Shanley and Stephen O'Reilly, 20 under par for the 27 holes played, in second place after shooting 19 under were the team of Nora Whelan, Con Lucey and Mick Kennedy. In third place were the trio of Anne Fitzgerald, Paddy O' Hanrahan and Adrian Anglim on a humble 15 under.
