Hillview Tennis Teams qualified for 2 Munster Finals

It was a great Sunday for Hillview tennis teams, with both the Div. 3 mixed and the Div. 4 ladies both qualifying for the Munster Finals, which are to be played in Sunday's Well, Cork next Sunday.

Mixed Grade 3 v Castleview.

The Div. 3 team of Michael Moroney, Dean O'Mahoney, Nuala Smith and Ann Walsh were at home and had a 3 to 2 victory over our great rivals Castleview ( Shane Cooke, Peter Baker, Sharon Murphy and Laura Diffley). It was a 2 all draw, but in the super mixed Michael and Ann won the decisive set. They now meet another local team Kilfeacle in the final.

Ladies Grade 4 v Carigaline.

Hillview Ladies Grade 4 travelled to Carigaline for their Munster Winter league Semi-final. In the first doubles played, Sinead McSweeney( Capt.) partnered by Mary Wall, fresh from her son's wedding , took vital first point from a tricky Carigaline pairing, while Kathleen Deeley and Ann Marie Moroney yielded their match leaving the score 1-1 at halftime.  The tempo was raised but in the reverse doubles Sinead and Mary weaved their magic in a thrilling two sets game, unlocking the Carigaline girls winning combination while Ann Marie and Kathleen fought back into a third set, winning a comfortable 6-2 to give a 3-1 victory for our ladies. It was a great achievement for the Moroneys, with both Michael and Annmaire qualifying. Come along and support them. Details of timing etc on club website during week.
