St Anne's Vets Tournament

There was a good Hillview representation and some successful results at the St Anne's Vets Tournament last weekend. Michael Prendergast won 2 competitions, the senior men's doubles with Dick McCarthy and the mixed doubles with Patti Briggs, Declan Tarrant and Eugene O'Mahoney won the over 40 doubles, Declan was runner up with Ursula Ryan in the mixed. William Guiry was a runner up in the over 50s men's doubles. Siobhan Slater and Ann Durkan got to the semi-finals in their grade.

Next Sunday the Hillview Div. 3 mixed team are at home to arch rivals Castleview in the Semi Finals of the Muster League. The Div. 4 ladies team are away to Carrigaline, best of luck to both teams.

Spring League. After 3 weeks of matches, the Spring League semi finalists are, in Div. 1 the teams are Sinead Mac Sweeney versus Dean O'Mahoney and Dave Johnson versus Siobhan Slater, in Div. 2, Eugene Cooney qualified for final and 2nd and 3 rd play off in semi final. The semi finals are all scheduled for Monday March 14th with finals on 16th, a good start to the St Patricks celebrations. In the ladies league, Barbara Russell and Breda Breen qualified for final and are awaiting opponents from play off.

For those that would like to play singles, the monthly ladder has restarted; this is great for those wishing to play a variety of opponents. The onus is on you to play your matches and try to achieve promotion to the next level.

Easter Junior Camp, Jaco Oosthenzin is planning to run a tennis camp on Monday 21st to 24th March, contact Jaco directly at 086 2154688 to participate.

Pitch and Putt

The weather has been a real spoil sport over the past few weeks resulting in numerous postponements of Pitch and Putt Competitions. However, Hillview teams were in action in the county leagues.

Table Tennis

Table Tennis will take place every Wednesday at 8.30p.m. New members and all standards welcome.

St Patrick's Doubles Competition:

On Wednesday 16th March Hillview Table Tennis will run a double competition. The entry fee will be €5 per-person. The closing date for entries will be Tuesday 15th March at 9.30pm. Entry Sheets are on the Notice boards in the Badminton Hall and Club Hallway. Any person wishing to play please put your name and contact number on the sheet. Open to all club members and players of all standards. New players and members very welcome.

If you can't make it up to put your name down you can contact the Table Tennis Captain John Fitzgerald on 085-7411299 before 9.30pm Tuesday.


Badminton is on every Monday and Thursday evening at 8 PM. Also junior badminton is on every Monday for both boys and girls aged 6 to 12 from 5 to 6PM, entry 1 euro.

Social Activities

The first of the club social nights was a great success; the Social Committee are now planning to run a Pool and fun table tennis competition on Thurs March 24th. Also last week the Carrick River Services table quiz organised by Clonmel Garda was a fantastic success with over 30 participating tables. The Clonmel Soroptomists are hosting their annual table quiz this Thursday evening March 10th, please support.


On Saturday 5th March 2016 the Hillview Lotto Jackpot was worth €1,300. The numbers drawn were 8-10-18-20. There was no Winner of the Jackpot. There were 3 tickets each with 3 numbers. The Winning tickets receive €30.00 each. The Next Lotto Draw will take place on Saturday 12th March 2016 at 9.00p.m. The Jackpot will be worth €1,400. Tickets are €1 each and can be bought from ticket sellers, or at the Hillview Bingo every Monday & Friday Night or at the Club Bar every night. Buy-ins for 2016 are now due, they are available at €45.00 for 1 year. If you're not in you can't win.
