Ann Wall and Stephen O'Reilly win the Credit Union Match Play FinalsClonmel & Fethard Credit Union Matchplay:
The finals of this event were played on Saturday July 25. The Ladies final resulted in an easy win for Ann Wall against a strangely out of form Kathleen Foran. But if the Ladies competition lacked excitement, the Gents more than made up for it with the result in doubt to the last of the 36 holes. The presentation of prizes was made in the presence of Hillview President Seamus O' Doherty and Andrew Burke from the Credit Union. In thanking the Credit Union for their support, the long association between Hillview and the Credit Union was noted by Seamus and by Andrew in his reply.Despite the vagaries of the Irish Summer the Pitch & Putt season continues without a break in Hillview. For the first time in years this event returned to Hillview and hopefully not be the last. We were thrilled with the turnout with an enjoyable evening had by all. On an evening when all were winners the result of the 18 hole event was as follows. The winners were the quartet of Jack Darcy, Conor Walsh, Ann Wall and Paddy O' Hanrahan, Beaten by half a shot were the team of Ronan Walsh, Nora Whelan and Jimmy Fitzgerald. Third place went to the trio of Alan Quigley, Con Lucey and Tom Morris. With the gross prize going to the team of Thomas Charles, Annmarie Quigley and Mick Kennedy.Would juveniles please note that the next competition for them will be a two ball scramble to be played on Friday 7th August starting at 2.00pm, Entry fee €2 per person with the presentation of prizes following immediately after the end of play in the club lounge.Tuesday Night Scramble:
The latest Tuesday night scramble was played on the 28th and was again hugely supported. Thank you everyone! The winning team consisted of were Mary Maloney, Laura O' Hanrahan and David Cahill. In second place were Veronica Anglim, Kathleen Shanley and Mario Smith. Third place went to the team of Kathleen Foran, Brendan McCarthy and Seanie O' Connor. The gross prize went to the Pauline Lucey, Norman Rankin and Adrian Anglim.
We are grateful to Mr Frank Quirke, Barrister at Law for sponsoring Junior Open Week. This is starting on Sunday August 9th for under 10 boys and girls, all other age groups under 12, 14, 16 and 18 are starting on Monday. Entry forms are in hallway.Junior Sports Camp. We are running a 3 day multisports camp on Tuesday August 18th to 20th; sign up in kiosk for this great fun event, places limited to 70. The Easter Camp was very enjoyable for all, this will be even better.Club Lotto:
On Saturday 1st August the Hillview lotto Jackpot was worth €1,600. The numbers drawn were 1-2-6-10. There were 5 match 3s, who each received 20 euros. The Next Lotto Draw will be on Saturday 8th August. The Jackpot will be worth €1,700.
