Tennis Notes

National Junior Tournaments
Evan Fitzgerald has been busy competing in the national ranking tournaments, he played in the recent National Winter Matchplay under 16's in Castlebar. He won two of his four matches and was unlucky to lose his opening match in a championship tie-break, 13/11. Along the way he also beat the number one ranked player in Munster.

Evan followed up this great performance by competing in the David Lloyd National Indoor Championships in Dublin over the Christmas period, he had a good win over the number one in Ulster 6-2, 6-3 to continue his excellent form. Hillview wish him many more successes in 2015 as he climbs up the national rankings.

Pitch And Putt

Tipperary Nett Cup
It was an early start to the New Year for many of our members who participated in the the Tipperary Nett Cup played in Hillview on Sunday Jan 4. With the weather unusually benign for the time of the year there was an excellent turn out from all over the county and from outside, a special thanks to our Waterford ladies who support all Hillview events so well.

After a long days play the overall net winners of this 18 holes scramble were the trio of Norman Rankin & Noel Joyce from Hillview and County Board Secretary Helen McMorrow. Runners up were the Riverdale trio of Margaret Courtney, Dean Courtney and Jim Molloy. The gross prize after a count back again went to Riverdale and the trio of Arthur Mitchell, Brian Fagan and Michael Murphy.

Presenting the prizes afterwards in the clubhouse, County Board Chairman Michael  Brennan thanked all who played, long time sponsor Michael O'Brien And Hillview for supplying an excellent course and facilities as usual.
