Tennis

Evan Fitzgerald's Munster Selection
Evan Whitty Fitzgerald was on the Munster under-14 boys team for the inter-provincial competition, Evan played the singles and had 2 wins against Ulster and Connaught and had a 3 set with the Lenister boy. This week Evan is playing in the All Ireland in Fitzwilliam.
 
Juniors
The Junior Open Week, which again this year was very kindly sponsored by Mr Frank Quirke, Barrister at Law, Fethard, was ongoing all last week. The only Hillview victory was in the boys under 16 doubles, Eoin Hoctor and Daire Lynch beat their brothers Niall Hoctor and Brian Lynch in a competitive final. Most of the other competitions were shared out by KIlkenny, Larkspur, LImerick, St Anne's and Castleview. Full results can be seen on Tennis Ireland Tournament Software.
There is a Junior Internal Club Championship being run over the next 2 weeks.
 
Open American Wednesday
The Open American's organised by Eugene Cooney are restarting this Wednesday at 7:30.
 
Adult Club Championships are planned for Sept 1st to 6th, entry forms in hallway. Report on HIllview performances at the TIpperary Open next week. Larkspur Open doubles competition next week, get your entries in soon.
 
Congratulations to coach William Guiry who captioned Ireland versus Belgium in a recent Vets International.
 

Pitch & Putt

Scramble News. We ran another hugely successful scramble on Tuesday Aug. 12th. After some excellent and exciting play the winners were the trio of Kathleen Foran, Breda O'Donnell and Adrian Anglim. Coming home in second place by the narrowest of shortheads were the team of Ann Wall, Bridget Walsh and Jimmy Fitzgerald, with the team of Breda Howell, Mary Maloney And Danny Gibbons. The gross prize went to the duo of Stephen O' Reilly and Norman Rankin.  
The next scramble goes ahead ( weather permitting) on Tuesday Aug.19th.
 
Inter county news: Congrats to the Tipperary Senior ladies, backboned by the McCarthy trio of Shula, Michelle and Gemma from Hillview , who thrashed the old enemy Cork by 40 shots to win the  Munster inter county title this year atTipp Hills.
 
The Tipperary men were not to be so lucky losing out by just 3 shots to, yes you guessed it , Cork. Hillview were represented on the mens team by James Cleary.
 
On Sunday Aug 17 the Tipperary Intermediate ladies team travelled to St. Stephens Cork to participate in the inaugural holding of the Munster Inter county championship at this level. As we have come to expect the ladies did bnot let us down finishing second to Cork. Hillview were represented on this team by Pauline Lucey and Gemma McCarthy.
 
Ely Centra Gross Competition: The first running of this competition drew an excellent entry,despite many other counter attractions on Sunday Aug. 17. After a long days play the winners were as follows:
Overall Ladies Gross winner- Shula McCarthy,
Overall Ladies Gross runner-up - Anne Fitzgerald
Overall Net Winner - Evelyn Cahill
Overall Gents Gross winner- Michael Kennedy,
Overall Gents runner- up - Stephen O'Reilly
Overall Net Winner- Con Lucey.
