Club Notes: 13th July 2014


Condon Cup
The Condon Cup team competition was played on Friday July 11th, we had a great entry with 28 players of all standards, the format gave plenty of varied games. After a long evening Declan Tarrant ably assisted by Cora Morrissey and in section B by Alison Walsh and Dolores Butler were the winners; the runners up were Eugene O'Mahoney, Kathleen McGrath, Ger Gunne and Siobhain Cahill,   We are grateful to Paul Condon for continuing the family tradition with his sponsorship. 
The Junior Open season is now in full swing. Evan Fitzgerald had a good run in Castleknock, Dublin winning 2 matches before meeting the number 1 seed from Bangor, NI.
We are running junior competitions on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 to 1PM.
Junior Tennis Camp
Tony McCarthy and Grace Durkan are running a tennis camp starting on Tuesday August 5th, this is open to members and non members. Completed forms can be given to the summer supervisors.

Pitch & Putt

Captains Prize:
We had a terrific turnout for the Captains (Mary Maloney and Paddy O' Hanrahan) Prizes on Sunday July 13th. With the course looking beautiful, a hard but fair challenge was put forward to the 39 competitors. Following an exciting days play - including a playoff - the winners in the various categories were as follows:

The presentation of prizes to the winners were made by the captains in the presence of the Club President Mr. Frank Gubbins. A very sincere thanks to all who played and those who supported the event from Mary and Paddy. 
Munster Strokeplay - 
Congratulations to Michael Kennedy on finishing third in the Munster Strokeplay Championship having led for most of the way. This was an excellent performance from the in form Michael, and he can look forward to the rest of the pitch and putt season with confidence. We had a number of other competitors competing in the Munster Championships over the weekend, congratulations to them also.
Open Scramble - 
The next open scramble will take place on Thursday July 17th with a start time of 6.45pm. 
Ladies Night - 
This popular event will take place this Friday July 18th starting at approximately 6. 30pm. We looks forward to seeing all our ladies and friends alike at this event! The entry fee is €10.00 per person, and everyone is asked to bring a small gift with a value of no more than €5.00 with them. Expertise in the game of pitch and putt is not a requirement. Hope to see you all there!
